Checking Softener Operation

Checking Softener Operation

Please follow the following steps to verify system operation. You will need to choose a time when you have roughly an hour and a half to observe the cycles on the water softener. Follow each step in order, and record the requested information after each step so we can better assist you in finding a solution.

1. How much salt and how much water is inside the salt tank to start with? If the water level is below the salt level, you can see the water level by removing the cap on the white brine well inside the salt tank.

2. Press and hold the button on the far left on the display, this is the extra cycle button and will start a regeneration cycle.

3. Once it starts BW, backwashing and counting down, water should be flowing down the drain under high pressure, you will hear the noise of the water pressure. Please verify you can hear the water flowing down the drain.

4. After the 10 minute backwash, it will go into BD, brine draw. This is an hour long cycle, once it starts to count down, it will begin drawing water out of the brine tank. Observe the cycle and record the water level and time how long it takes for all the water to draw out of the brine tank. Note: There may be an inch or so left in the bottom once done.

5. The next step is RR, rapid rinse. This cycle is similar to the backwash. There should be a strong flow down the drain on this cycle as well.

6. The last step is BF, brine fill. This is where it puts water back into the brine tank. When it is finished, record how much water is in the brine tank at the end of the cycle.
